There's a woman claimed she's 30 that I just met at a religious association was looking for advice from a 35 year old me.
At first starting, she said she wanted to learn beauty or hotel management, asked me which good university she could enroll. I have no answers for her but told her good uni or not wasn't important than having a good teacher who teaches, and learn from them.
After that, she asked me again about nursing, science and accounting that she wanted to take, I have no answers for her, but I told her to pursue what she really wanted to learn at heart, but then she changed to business and investment. To me, she's wavering in thoughts, desperately wanting to pick a study that promised with high pays.
When she said she's worry
about getting harder to find job after graduated at 35 which I corrected
her to 33, which she wasn't listening by the way, or 30 isn't really her age.
Therefore, I shared her what my past through in short, and shared her websites
such as Skillshare and Udemy as another way to take up short courses, and
build new skills to add into resume for little boost, saving uni cost and time. She excitedly wrote down the website names but did not even search in.
I asked what was her last job, she said she used to work as an admin for "few" years, but didn't specify the number of years, she hesitated. She claimed that she's tired of admin job, wanted to change field (aiming for high salary job or still searching her path of life ). I didn't ask her any further about employment or what she did then because her answer clearly didn't want to reveal of what she desperate to hide, and it's past tense, no further digging point is necessary to step over her dignity. I have been through that many times, I been honest with answers but some people I met, interview or off interview did so whether intentionally or not to step over me deeper and dick-shit on me 6 feet below, just to test whether I have the attitude they looking to work with, so I hate too, but it's their job...
Her obvious anxiety and unconfident reminded of me back in the my day of the path I had chosen and walked until I hit on dead ends gradually blurring with thick fogs, stood at one place feeling stuck with mountains of doubts and worries, clueless of where to go and afraid to risk walking into the mist of dangers that I can't see. Unlike in the game, you still have map to walk to your mission, identify obstacles ahead and you know exactly what to do when you approach while there's none in the real world, and what happens happened. That's game and real world difficulty differences.
In fiction, most often would some main protagonists has various striving talents and intelligence but uncertain to pick one from abundant of adventurer classes to pursue. In reality, many includes me have a lot of ambitious dreams and fantasized identities but none of your so-called depicted talents are far than worth or better when comparing others and years of past.
The woman fantasized yet comparing to her little sister who her father bought her sister a car or something which she seemed not pleased about, and wanted such salary to have a house and a car, which I told her to stop dreaming and start saving money, she instantly brushed off with bad money saving as an excuse. She's even being skeptical at someone who spare own time sharing info to, asking where my eye-bags were when I told her my job profession cause me my sleep. Ungrateful and disrespect.
Her face changed when "useful" came in topic, she's in delight when leaving her problem at people's door. A type who sits back waiting somebody knocks at her door and feed her with intel she wants to hear and promising job somebody risks to apply for her but not the effort herself. That's my first impression of her that day, successfully to make me a "useful" pawn.
My friends understood well the risk of helping the anonymous under their names would affect their reputations and even career. So they reply me:
I'm greatly hesitated to share this type of people my number, but it's the only thing I could help this woman is to set her mind straight of what step she needed take for her future; and have someone who has higher voice to snipe her from being overspoiled; Giving her a clue to start, do or not do is up to her as nothing is spoon-feed in adult world.
A good place doesn't mean you should identify everyone as good. There are people who look for people in good places that benefits only them, just some did so to get on their temporary nightmares. I don't know about this woman's been through in life, only guess she probably has some disorder about being misfit in working society, being in this association gives people a sense of being treated as fair human. But another thing I know after chat with the woman is, there's a friend meet at Shah Alam, but she chose to make her friends wait past the time to chat with me, is a bad apple. I feel bad for her friends made a wrong "friend".
